Use strengths of a digital database

The NWS needs to exploit the strengths of a digital database like IFPS. This has not been done in over 8 years now. Change the forecasts completely to more event-driven...like the amount of precipitation from thunderstorms expected in the next 3-6 hours over a city. Stop the forecast cycle at 48 hours and leave the rest to climatology with a general outlook. The first 12 hours of the forecast should have the most details. Now that is really useful to the end user. Eliminate the ambiguous wording for areal and uncertainty qualifiers in POPs which differ from the private sector to federal sector. What does "scattered" really mean to the average user? The public does not have the latest weather directives manuals to venture an educated guess.
